Street in McLeod
Hillside of McLeod (more like this on google images search)It is officially friday here which means I am off on another adventure! This weekend we're going up north in a much need escape from the heat. McLeod (pronounced McCloud) is the home to the Dalai Lama, as he is in excile from Tibet. It is a small Tibetan colony in the mountains. To get there we are taking an overnight bus to a town just below McLeod called Dharamsala (da-raam-sala) which is also supposed to be very beautiful. The state it's in boarders Tibet and is nestled in the Himalayas. We leave Delhi at 6pm and arrive in Dharamsala at 6am. All we have is our one-way ticket to Dharamsala. No hotel reservation and no return ticket. But don't you go worrying about me! We have a plan. This is how Iram travels apparently and since she wanted to plan the trip, we're doing things her way since she goes up there about every year or two. All of the hotels we called confirmed her explanation to us that the Tibetans do not take reservations. They wanted us to book when we got there and said there is plenty of room. This is just the way it's done up there. when in Rome right?!
McLeod is known for it's Tibetan temples, hiking trails and delicious cuisine. They also have good yoga that I think I'm going to do. I just did a google search to get the photos if you are now curious. I guess you'll just have to wait until my monday morning/your sunday night to see photos and here about the trip! Miss you all and thanks for reading the blog!
PS: Aunt Kim - your wonderful son Kris signed up for facebook and I keep a better eye on him now! ;) I'll be in Seattle when I get back around the 25th of July, so I believe a BBQ is in order!

Glad I stumbled onto your blog. I adore India and others who do, too.
